MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS

Envestnet, the Redwood City, California-based fintech company using AI, said it acquired Abe AI, which is developing natural language processing technology.

Cision, the Chicago, Illinois-based communications firm, said it acquired TrendKite, a marketing firm using AI.

CoreView, the Alpharetta, Georgia-based software developer, said it acquired natural language processing firm TermSet.

And Dallas, Texas-based Dynata said it is acquiring Reimagine.

FUNDING

DISCO, the Austin, Texas-based legal services firm using AI, said it raised USD 83m in a funding round led by Georgian Partners.

Sherpa.ai, the Bilbao, Spain-based digital assistant developer using AI, said it raised USD 8.5m in a Series A led by Mundi Ventures.

Ontic Technologies, the Austin, Texas-based security services firm using AI, said it raised USD 4.65m in a seed financing led by Silverton Partners. The company is developing technology to predict violence.

PEOPLE

Havas Creative, the New York City-based marketing firm using AI, said it has promoted Melody Adhami to CEO of its Canada division. Adhami was the Canada COO.

Blue Jeans Network, the Mountain View, California-based video communications platform, said it hired Guillaume Vives as chief product officer. Vives will build out the AI and machine learning-based technology the company uses.

Behavox, the New York City-based AI company, said it brought in a former SEC official and a former Atlassian executive as independent board advisors.

And Apple cut 200 employees from its autonomous driving unit, according to a CNBC report.
