FILINGS

PagerDuty, the San Francisco, California-based business services firm using machine language, said it plans to raise a placeholder USD 100m in an initial public offering.

Change Healthcare, the Nashville, Tennesse-based healthcare technology firm using AI and blockchain, said it plans to raise a placeholder USD 100m in an initial public offering.


FUNDING

ikioo Technologies, the Burbank, California-based medical technology company using AI, said it converted a USD 41m seed round to the blockchain through a security token offering.

Glia (formerly SaleMove), the Tallinn, Estonia-based customer services platform for the financial industry using AI, said it raised USD 20m in a Series B led by Insight Venture Partners.

Hyundai Mobis, the car parts unit of Seoul, South Korea-based conglomerate Hyundai, said it invested USD 5m in Chinese AI company Deep Glint.

Waymo, the autonomous vehicle division of Mountain View, California-based Alphabet, is seeking investment from companies that include Volkswagen, according to a report from The Information.

And startups are exploiting the hazy definition of AI, with over 40% of companies using the term but not the technology, according to a Wired report.

PEOPLE

Avast, the London, UK-based cybersecurity company using AI, said CEO Vince Steckler is retiring and will be succeeded by Ondrej Vlcek, who is the current president of the consumer business. 

Movencorp, the New York City-based financial technology company using AI, said it hired Davor Ebling as chief innovation officer. 

Symphony RetailAI, the Dallas, Texas-based marketing company using AI, said it hired Kevin Sterneckert as chief marketing officer.

GM Cruise, the autonomous driving unit of Detroit, Michigan-based General Motors, hired Dropbox executive Arden Hoffman as chief people officer, according to a TechCrunch report.

Morgan Stanley machine language researcher Sasha Luccioni has left the investment bank after only one year to become a postdoctoral researcher at The Mila-Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute in Canada, according to an eFinancial Careers report.
